I am a 16 year old female and I have been living with diabetes for eight years. When I turned 12, my blood sugars would stay up no matter what I did. I am doing the best that I can for a 16 year old. When I am under stress, my blood sugar goes up and my doctors yell at me. What can I do to be in more control of my diabetes?

Yesterday, my one-hour non-fasting glucose test came back 312 mg/dl (17.3 mmol/L). I am scheduled for a three-hour glucose test tomorrow. How likely is it that this is strictly gestational diabetes? Would diet be a consideration for me?

My son was diagnosed with ketotic hypoglycemia three months ago. Now, when he’s sick, his level goes to 277 mg/dl after two-and-one-half hours without eating. Our pediatrician said that he looks like he could be in a prediabetic state right now.

I am 35 years old and seven weeks pregnant with my second child. I took the three-hour glucose test with my first pregnancy which was okay. Yesterday, I had my urine checked. The nurse noted that there was a trace of ketones present. When I research ketones, the only hits I get concern diabetes. Why do I have ketones in my urine? How can I get rid of them quick?

My 14 year old son was diagnosed with diabetes four months ago. His islet cell antibodies were negative but his GAD-65 was 4.3. He is doing extremely well Are there any precautions available to prolong this honeymoon period? Are there any complications to be aware of from his GAD-65 results?

My boyfriend’s son has had type 1 diabetes since he was 12. The son is always drinking alcohol, and he smokes marijuana. He takes his insulin, but doesn’t seem to care about anything else. My boyfriend’s attitude to just let his son have fun while he can. How soon will he start to see complications occurring? What can I do to get this kid some help?
