My four year old son is in the pre-clinical stage of type 1 diabetes. see parents writing in asking about the likelihood of having another member of their immediate family (a child or sibling) develop diabetes, and I have seen your response that there is only a 2%-5% chance. Her treatment plan is difficult because she has care givers who visit to help with meals, etc., who visit only twice a day. Can let me know of any experience of diabetes and MS or can point me to a web resource?

I’ve decided to research on children with diabetes for a staff member, and I’m seeing information about an insulin pump. I’ve searched but cannot find a definition for an insulin pump. What exactly is it? Does it replace the use of syringes? How large is it? Does it have to be prescribed by a physician or does a parent just go out and get one?
