My daughter is 5 1/2 and was diagnosed when she was 2. My understanding is that, based on her weight, she should be using an average of 20 units of insulin a day. She doesn’t even use 10. Is it possible that she can still be honeymooning after 3 years?

My 13 year-old-son, diagnosed 1 year ago, has had positive tests for protein in the urine twice in the past six months. The doctor seems to feel that since he is not spilling protein at night, it is orthostatic and not a concern. I am wondering if I should have a nephrologist evaluate my son.
