Could you possibly give me an estimate of the number of people with type 1 diabetes living in the United States?

I’m a wrestling manager at my high school, and have a 15 year old boy with diabetes who often gets sick during practice and has to take glucose pills. He also plays football, and there’s no break in between these two sports. Is there anything more I can do for him when he has these episodes?

My husband has type 1, and we are expecting a baby in two months. I’ve read about giving the BCG vaccine at birth as a preventative, but all the information seems to be old. Has this been found to be unsuccessful? Is that why there’s nothing recent on it?

My 15 year old daughter does springboard diving. Even when she eats an extra snack before diving, her blood sugars drop too low while exercising. Any ideas?

My 14 year old is very athletic and active and has gained back the 14 pounds she lost when first diagnosed. Is she going through a long honeymoon period? Is it possible she actually has type 2?

I am a 38 year old male diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two months ago, after being admitted to the hospital for DKA. Now I am completely off of insulin and my blood sugar levels have stayed normal. Is is usual for somebody in the honeymoon stage to be able to get off of insulin completely?
