I am 30 years old and have had type 1 diabetes for 17 years. I moved to Texas seven months ago, and, since then, I have lost 45 pounds without dieting. Why would this be?

My child is six years old. She has not been diagnosed with diabetes, but I am concerned because her appetite has increased, she is always thirsty, and is complaining of being tired.
