My 10 year old daughter is on an insulin pump using Humalog. Her daytime blood sugars are in tight control, but at night, they go very high. Her diabetes team thinks she is bouncing at night, but I have done a range of readings at night and have not been able to confirm this. Can you give me any insight?

I had a one-hour glucose challenge at 26 weeks gestation, which was normal. However, I decided to check my urine at home, and find I am now spilling sugar frequently. Because my specimens at the office are normal, my doctor says I’m fine. I then decided to self-monitor some blood sugars to ease my mind, and I have had a couple of high readings. Do I have diabetes?

I am a 23 year old busy college student with type 1 diabetes, so I can’t always eat at exact meal times, and I enjoy hiking on longer excursions. I was considering going on the insulin pump, but am now waiting to use the new insulin for the long acting and then Humalog at meals. Do you know when the new insulin (24 hour) will be on the market? Can you now purchase the inhalers used for insulin?

Two years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, but after a bout with DKA that changed. When I left the hospital, my daily dose of insulin was 80 units (multiple daily injections), it is now down to 26 to 34 units a day, and my A1c has gone from 16.2 to 4.7%. Could I be going into a belated honeymoon period? Is this due to my total change of life style?

I’m about 34 weeks pregnant, and I have gestational diabetes which is controlled by diet. Sometimes, if I have eaten something I shouldn’t have, my postprandial readings are high. Do you have to be high constantly to do harm to the fetus or will just a occasionally high number be harmful?
