I’m a 43 year old male, diagnosed five months ago with type 1. I appear to have some residual islet cell function at this time and have many questions.

If the pancreas is able to regenerate itself, why can’t it resume production of insulin or be stimulated to produce insulin in type 1 diabetes?

I have had type 1 diabetes for 35 years and have recently been diagnosed with cheiroarthropathy. I am seeking information regarding treatment for limited joint mobility. Will the stiffness go into a remission? Other than physical therapy, what is the treatment for this?
