My little girl has cerebral palsy and gastrostomy tube feedings. Recently, her blood sugar was 300 mg/dl [16.7 mmol/L]. We have no idea what got it that high. After two hours, she finally woke up and was back to her old self. Her blood sugar went back down on its own. Can she have diabetes?

I am a young adult who has had diabetes since the age of six. I have had relatively good control over the years, but, recently, my control has suffered. She generally did not eat a lot in the past, but now here appetite is rapidly increasing. I have a strong family history of diabetes. Do you think she may have it?

I’ve had type 1 for 37 of my 48 years. I have read that people who have diabetes may be more prone to “frozen shoulder” than people who don’t have diabetes. Can you explain what this problem is? What types of treatments are available?

I’m using Humalog (short acting insulin) and NPH. I’m 17 weeks pregnant, and I’ve been told to change back to Regular insulin as they are not sure of what to expect (towards baby) while in womb. Can you advise me of any problems directly related to child defects from using Humalog?

I have had diabetes (type 1) for almost 15 years. I am 27, and I am in fairly good control. My last HbA1c was 7.1%. On and off for the past seven years, I have had bouts of insomnia (the past 6 weeks have been the worst). Is there a link between diabetes and insomnia?
