Recently, researchers at the University of Alberta in Canada announced a so-called “cure” for diabetes. Given the need for donors to provide the pancreases (2 pancreases needed per patient), is it feasible that enough donated pancreas can be found to “cure” a large portion of the population?

Last year during my scheduled doctor’s visit my blood sugar was at 121. This year I went back and he called and left word that my level was at 348. Could it be possible that two days after a 3 hour dental appointment with Novocaine or some type of drug it could have made a spike like this?

I have a good friend who is a 38 year old male, who is quite thin, and has had diabetes since age 12. He is on 70/30, and is having severe swings in blood glucose. I have suggested that he ask his doctor to try him on mixing, rather than the pre-mix, but he is uncomfortable asking this without something in writing that might back up his question.

My 7 year old daughter has had a rash for over 2 weeks. Diabetes runs in our family. I have access to a home meter and have tested her count 3 times today, all 3-4 hours after meals, one count was 126, then 99, then 108. I’m debating on whether to bring these readings to the attention of our doctor.
