I am 32 years old, my father had Type 2 diabetes and I have Type 2 diabetes on both sides of my family. When I was younger and ate a lot of sugar, I would act strangely. Now as an adult, I have problems with what I consider low blood sugar. I would like to know if I could somehow be allergic to the sugars in carbohydrates.

Shortly after having a heart attack and bypass surgery 19 years ago, my father-in-law (now age 73) was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. We have been told that he is not a good candidate for a second bypass because of his diabetes. Why does diabetes make him ineligible for a second bypass surgery?

My daughter, age 5 1/2, has Type 1. For the past month, she has complained of numbness and tingling in the soles of her feet. I took her to her pediatrician who has ruled out neuropathy. I am wondering if there may be a link between these symptoms and her use of Nutrasweet.

My 8 year old daughter was diagnosed 1.5 months ago. At breakfast, she would not eat. Her blood sugar was 82. She was almost comatose. She couldn’t eat, drink, or walk. I let her sleep for 10 minutes and then gave her juice. Her sugar level was now 39. Why did this happen when she was at a normal level?
